Hey gang!

Although I would prefer to ride on the last day of 2020 just to give this horrendous year a proper send off,

how about we start 2021 off right with an informal club ride. As opposed to formal where we have to wear, er, formal attire..

David Lambert has sent me a route that looks like it will take several hours, is pretty much all less traveled roads in the areas around

Lake Marion. It will start in St Matthews, maybe around 9-10ish. Right now according to the oracle of weather (Barry D), the weather should be relatively mild. I’m attaching a copy of the route so if anyone has any comments or suggestions, let’s hear ’em. Nothing is sent in stone yet. We might even be able to find a place to grab a bite somewhere along the route. What say ye?

Kudos to Dave for planning a nice route – I, on the other hand, have not done a good job on the weather front

Now it looks like temps in the 60’s and some showers. After all 2020 has thrown at us, I think we can handle a few showers…. As someone once told me, “ Here, hold my beer”…… {yellow}

So do we rename the thread to Jan 3 ride coz rain sucks?

The Mrs and I will likely ride also – not that we need an excuse to ride but this seems like a good one.

It’s the “this is as close to New Years as we could get” ride. Here is all the info.

Start at Hardee’s in St Matthews at 10:30am on Sunday. Stop in Santee at Armando’s Mexican restaurant and have a bite (they have outside seating). Continue riding. Whole thing should take give or take 3 hrs. Weather is looking better that day. Starts warmish than temps drop some.

Attaching GPX files and a map Barry D created. A special shout to David Lambert for coming up with this route and supplying GPX files. Also

a tip  of the big hat to Barry D for doing the map and also sorts of whiz bang GPS conversions.

Hope to see a bunch of folks on Sunday.

Required statement: Socially distance when possible, wear masks when you can’t. If anyone feels sick or exhibits covid symptoms, stay home.

I know we’re all adults and mostly act as such but I wanted to put this in in case a lawyer is reading….:)

Aww crap, the gpx files won’t upload. Go look for the email I sent out today and you can find them there.

See ya Sunday!

Secretary Tim
